CMO praises the papaya farmers

Taking to ‘X’ handle, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) tweeted, “Thanks to @krushibibhag, @APEDADOC & Palladium Consulting India for facilitating the export of 1 ton of premium-quality Green Papaya from Dhenkanal to London. This is a huge boost to the agriculture sector in the State and its global market reach. The milestone will empower our women farmers, ensure better income and opportunities for them. #MakeInOdisha.”

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the shipment of approximately 1.7 tonnes of this specific variety of papaya. Collective efforts from farmers across regions such as Saptasajya, Kankadahad, Khuntujhari, and Odapada made this possible. The robust global demand underscores the increasing appeal of Odisha's agricultural produce.

Local tribal communities also play a vital role in cultivating this esteemed crop. Through strategic collection, quality assessment, and meticulous packaging procedures, the select papaya variety was readied for its international journey.

This export is expected to provide crucial financial stability to local farmers and the tribal families, with additional orders already in progress, reflecting a sustained demand for this product overseas.
