A tragic accident claimed the lives of three persons in Sundargarh, on Sunday, when a hyva truck crashed into a tea stall in K Balang locality of the district. The incident unfolded in close proximity to Jamudihi toll gate.

According to sources, among the deceased are Sambari Mundari, owner of the tea stall, and two drivers of other trucks. The exact circumstances as to how the hyva veered off course and collided with the stall remain under investigation by the local police.
An eyewitness narrates the incident
“Driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle on NH-520 and rammed into the tea stall leading to three untimely deaths. The three persons were killed on the spot in the fatal road mishap. Two more persons sustained grievous injuries in the incident and are undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital,” an eyewitness expressed to OTV.
On being informed by some locals, K Balang police reached the spot and with the help of local residents recovered the bodies and sent them to the hospital for post-mortem.

Police have expressed concern that additional individuals might have been trapped in the debris. Emergency responders, including the tehsildar of Koida, K Balang police, and Koida's fire department, are on-site conducting a rescue operation.
