Around 3,100 people from six nearby villages will be temporarily shifted ahead of Wednesday’s scheduled missile test at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur in Balasore.
As per a defence source, people within the periphery of 2.5 km of the Test Range will be temporarily shifted. While 1,093 people will be shifted from Jayadebaksaba Pahi and Sajahajnagar Pahi areas, as many as 895 people will be shifted from Bhimpur Pahi and Tundara Pahi areas. Similarly, 1,112 people will be moved from Khadupahi and Kusumuli areas.
More than 100 government officials have been entrusted with the responsibility of shifting the people into different shelter places on a temporary basis. As many as 15 platoon police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order and prevent any kind of untoward incidents during the shifting process.
The shifting process will start at 6 am tomorrow and the shifted people will stay in the shelter places on a temporary basis till the completion of the missile test.
“Balasore district administration along with Chandipur ITR authorities has made all kinds of preparations for the missile test. Around 3100 people from nearby six villages will be shifted to three shelter places on a temporary basis. All kinds of arrangements have been made to provide food and drinking water to the shifted people. We have also increased Rs 50 in their earlier compensation amounts,” said Assistant Collector of Balasore Niranjan Behera.
