A job aspirant from Sambalpur met and appealed to the Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday over the 'inordinate delay' in his appointment to the position of jail warder- a post he claims to have secured more than a decade ago.
The petitioner, Deepak Kumar Nath, reportedly appeared for a competitive examination process for the position of jail warder in 2012-2013. However, he did not get selected among the 140 candidates who cracked the examination.
Subsequently, he filed an RTI application to review his examination paper and came to know that it was erroneously graded and that he should have received 89 marks instead of the assigned 74 which was 2 marks short of the 76 required to crack the exam.
Taking this matter forward, Nath sought justice through legal means. Despite obtaining favourable judgments first from the Orissa High Court and later from the Supreme Court, the state government allegedly failed to give him a proper appointment as per the court’s directives.

He further alleged that he was embroiled in a legal battle with the state ever since. “The honourable Orissa High Court directed the concerned authorities to either assign me my role as jail warder or the nearest vacancy available. But they did not heed the directive and instead approached the Supreme Court, which also directed the same,” he said.
