A recent disclosure in the Odisha Assembly has revealed that 12 out of 32 district headquarters hospitals (DHH) in Odisha do not have Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facilities, according to information shared by the State Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Monday. 

The process for setting up ICUs in four districts—Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Rayagada, and Rourkela—is currently underway. The initiative aims to bolster emergency medical infrastructure across the state.

Additionally, it was announced that the ICU at the district headquarters hospital in Koraput is scheduled to become functional by April. This development is part of a broader effort to enhance healthcare services in the region.

The disclosure was made through a written statement by the Health Minister, reflecting the government's focus on addressing healthcare disparities within the state. The announcement underscores the need for equitable access to critical medical care across all districts.
