In a startling incident this morning, the Falaknuma Express, traveling to Shalimar in West Bengal, via Visakhapatnam, unexpectedly split into two sections during its journey. Sources reported that the event occurred near Summadevi in the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, triggering panic and alarm among passengers.
According to the information shared by railway officials, two AC coaches of the train detached near Palasa without any warning. Subsequently, the train split into two, with one end still attached to the engine.
It is pertinent to note that the alert train driver promptly halted the train, preventing a potential disaster. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though the incident caused significant panic among passengers.
Immediate Response
Reports added that railway personnel quickly arrived at the scene and conducted necessary repairs and reattached the separated coaches. After ensuring all safety protocols were met, the train resumed its journey without further issues.
Impact on Rail Traffic
The incident led to temporary disruptions in train services between Brahmapur and Visakhapatnam, resulting in delays for several trains on this route. Railway authorities have since worked to restore normal operations.

Recent Train Derailment in Cuttack
The incident follows a recent train derailment in Choudwar of Cuttack district. On March 30, the Bengaluru-Kamakhya Express derailed near Nergundi station, resulting in one fatality and injuries to eight others.
In that incident, eleven coaches came off the tracks, prompting extensive rescue operations and raising concerns about rail safety in the region.
