Odisha Television Limited’s (OTV) cameraperson Pravat Sinha, who underwent treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after sustaining major injuries in the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) boat mishap in Mahanadi River last Friday, was discharged from the hospital on Monday.
Prabhat accompanied the ODRAF team that went inside the Mahanadi River at Mundali in Cuttack to rescue an elephant which was trapped in the flood waters on Friday.
However, disaster struck when the boat carrying ODRAF personnel along with OTV senior reporter Arindam Das and cameraperson Sinha capsized due strong water current while trying to rescue the stranded giant.

While Arindam Das lost his life in the mishap, ODRAF jawan Sitaram Murmu went missing. Later on Saturday, some locals spotted Murmu’s body near Kakhadi in Athagarh area and contacted the ODRAF team. Subsequently Murmu’s body was fished out.
On the other hand, Prabhat and two ODRAF members who had sustained critical injuries in the mishap were admitted to the SCB hospital. Along with treatment, they were kept under observation for 72 hours.
Pravat was discharged from the hospital on Monday after his health condition improved.
Earlier on Sunday, the Forest department officials recovered the carcass of an elephant which is believed to be the tusker that went missing from Mundali barrage near Cuttack two days ago.
The carcass of a pachyderm was recovered at Jagatpur area in the outskirts of Cuttack city in the downstream of the river and the autopsy will be conducted today.
