The sensational murder case of lady teacher Mamita Meher in Mahaling of Kalahandi has caused a massive upheaval in Odisha in the last few days.
While the powers that be and those in the Opposition are busy in a political travesty over the case, a serious issue is developing in the Plus 2 Regional College in Mahaling, which has been in the eye of the storm following the incident.
Several students in the educational institute have now opted for transfer from the college in view of safety and citing threat to their lives.

Following the exposure of Gobinda Sahu, the mastermind in the murder case of the lady teacher of Sunshine Public School and a contractor-turned-edu entrepreneur who ran the college, students and their parents at Mahaling Regional College in the district have sought immediate Transfer Certificate (TC) from the institution.
As per the latest reports, over 50 students have applied for TC from the college caught in the turbulence of the sensational scandal. Sources said, Gobinda and his associates, allegedly operated a 'sex racket' at the college. And the Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra has also been accused of being a regular visitor to the college.
"After learning about the sensational murder case of the lady teacher and several other links associated with the college, I feel it is unsafe to continue my child's education at the college. We have applied for TC but the college administration is playing games with us in returning the deposit money. Even after stating that I have to travel around 200km to the college and we can't travel frequently, they are not paying any heed to it. They are not even agreeing to deposit the money in the account," said Mukta Rana, a parent.
Meanwhile, a worried girl student of the college said, "We are opting to take TC from the college following the revelation of the scandal. We fear that such incidents may occur anytime and also happen with us. We don't feel safe in this college anymore."
"Students and their parents are in doldrums following the incident in Sunshine Public School as the prime accused Gobinda Sahu is also the Chairman of our college. We have 496 students in 1st year and 384 in 2nd year and few of them have applied for TC," said Ranjit Sahu, President of Mahaling Plus 2 College.
