Former MLA from Mahanga assembly constituency in Cuttack and Odisha State Cashew Development Corporation chairman Bikram Keshari Verma died of Covid-19 on Saturday. He was 81.
Verma was under treatment at a private nursing home in Bhubaneswar after being infected with Covid-19. He breathed his last today, informed his son-in-law Niranjan Bhuyan.
He represented the Mahanga assembly constituency as a BJD candidate from 2004 to 2009.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan condoled the demise of the former lawmaker. Taking to Twitter he wrote, "I am saddened to hear about the demise of former MLA Bikram Keshari Verma of Mahanga constituency in Cuttack district. Condolences to the bereaved family."
Expressing grief on the passing away of Verma, BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda said he was widely admired as a very sincere and honest politician.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi has also condoled the passing away of the former MLA and said he will always be remembered as a good organiser and litterateur.
Minister of State for Power, Industry, MSME and Minister of State for Home Divyashankar Mishra described Verma a simple man and said the State lost a skilled organiser.
