A day after giving a miss to the marriage date, BJD’s Tirtol MLA Bijaya Shankar Das has run into rough weather after his wife-to-be lodged a complaint against him at Jagatsinghpur police station, accusing him of running a sex racket.
The complainant, Somalika, has alleged in her compliant that Bijaya Shankar was running a sex racket to raise money for election expenses. In this regard, he has several cases pending against him in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
Somalika has also alleged that Bijaya Shankar had tampered with his Matric mark sheet. Then his father, late Bishnu Charan Das, was the School and Mass Education Minister.
Besides the above allegations, she has also alleged that Bijaya Shankar had promised to marry her but on the fixed date he didn’t turn up at the Registrar of Marriage office at Jagatsinghpur.
“Since Bijaya Shankar did not turn up yesterday, I have lodged a complaint against him. I have full faith in the judiciary and am sure that justice will be delivered to me,” said Somalika.
Somlaika has also mentioned Bijay a Shankar’s family members name in her compliant.
According to her, they had been in love for a long period. During the last Panchayat elections, their relationship had turned sour due to some reasons. Then she had made some photos of their intimate moments viral. She had even taken the matter up with the superintendent of police in last month.
Meanwhile, they both had visited the Registrar of Marriage office at Jagatsinghpur on May 17 for marriage registration.
The rule says, if no compliant is received from both the sides, the marriage application stands valid. So, Somalika had come to the Registrar of Marriage office on June 17 when their application for marriage completed a month.
Somalika’s father Sangram Kishore Das said, “June 17 had been fixed for the marriage. We kept waiting for him at the Registrar of Marriage office at Jagatsinghpur and it was when he didn’t turn up, we were forced to lodge a police complaint.”
When contacted, Bijaya Shankar refused to give any comment on the fresh allegations leveled against him.
However, he had said on Friday that nobody had talked to him regarding the marriage.
