Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today dismissed two home guards from service in connection with the assault on a minor boy who was allegedly found selling tea at his father's shop beyond deadline during partial lockdown.
DCP Umashankar Dash has also recommended the expulsion of an OAPF (Odisha Auxiliary Police Force) jawan who has been placed under suspension in connection with the same case.
The incident took place at Kesura area in Bhubaneswar on June 29. Personnel from a PCR team of Badagada police station had allegedly kicked the minor boy mercilessly for keeping the shop open beyond the permissible time of 6 am to 1 pm during the partial lockdown.

The PCR personnel came across the alleged violation during patrolling when they found the tea shop opened beyond the stipulated time. Without enquiring the matter, the on duty personnel had allegedly unleashed the brutality on the minor boy selling tea and snacks in the absence of his father.
The police personnel had also allegedly took away some food materials from the shop forcefully.
The entire act of the police was captured on a CCTV camera which was later aired on OTV. Following the telecast of the news, the DCP had suspended the PCR officials as an immediate measure and directed inquiry against two other personnel.
Taking suo motu cognisance of the matter, the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) has directed the DCP to submit a report on the incident.
The Commission Chairperson, Sandhyabati Pradhan said the Commission will also inquire into the circumstance that led to the employment of a child in the shop. If required, he will be rehabilitated under the government schemes, she said.
