Scores of job aspirants on Sunday had a harrowing time in appearing the Revenue Inspector (RI) examination conducted by the Odisha Sub Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) due to confusion over the examination centre mentioned in their admit cards.
As per the schedule, the examination was to be conducted in two sittings- from 10 AM to 12 Noon and from 3 PM to 5 PM today.
Preliminary reports said that several candidates had reached the Government Women’s College, Titlagarh road at around 8 am. However, they were surprised to know that there was no examination centre at the college as mentioned in their admit card.

“Today, we had the RI exam. All the candidates had reached the designated address at 8 am today. In our admit card, it has been mentioned as Government Women’s College, Titlagarh road. But after reaching here, we learnt that the exam centre allotted to us is Government Women’s College in Bolangir,” said Priti Gochayat, a candidate.
Following the ruckus created by the candidates, a delegation of the local administration including the Sub-Collector reached the spot and held discussions with the aspirants.
Later, Sub-Collector Manoj Mahajan said, “The problem occurred as the candidates thought that the examination is at Titlagarh instead of their actual centre at Government Women’s College in Bolangir.”
Initially it was decided to arrange a bus to take the candidates to their actual examination centre. Later, steps were taken to conduct the examination at a different centre in the area.
“The candidates had reached wrong venue due to confusion. Later, steps were initiated to ensure that they were given chance to appear in the examination. The stipulated 2 hours time was alloted to the candidates to appear the exam and provision of food was also made. The candidates will appear the second sitting exam in the temporary centre," said Mahajan.
The Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission had released the notification to fill up a total of 5586 vacancies of Revenue Inspector and Assistant Revenue Inspector .
