Showing an emotive gesture and giving a message to the society about the protection of environment, the Rovers and Rangers- student wing of RMD Degree college at Patia celebrated Raksha Bandhan in a unique style in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
The students tied handmade rakhis made of different seeds to the police personnel of Infocity and Chandrasekharpur police stations amid Covid-19 guidelines.
The students also lauded the policemen for imparting their duty diligently to maintain law and order in the State even during festivals and holidays.

“We tied rakhis to the police personnel as to renew their pledge to serve the society, especially the girls and women, and to safeguard their interests. They are doing a very tough job during this difficult time of the pandemic. We all need to step up to provide support and shower our love on them,” said Sagarika, a student of the institute.
In a bid to give a message to the society to protect our environment, the students had made the rakhis with different seeds.
“Protecting our environment has become the most important duty of all human beings during the time of massive climate change. We have made our rakhis out of seeds so that those could be germinated as saplings and grown as huge trees. We are hopeful that a brother would cherish the love of his sister in this unique way,” said Sasmita Sarangi, a lecture of the college.
