Fans are well aware that Bollywood actors Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor have been childhood friends. Earlier, Shraddha disclosed that she had developed a crush on Varun and confessed her love after taking him to the mountains from the shooting set. They were eight years old at the time. But, Varun turned down her proposal. However, did you know that Shraddha got Varun beaten up for rejecting her proposal?
Recently, during an interview, Varun recalled the consequences of rejecting her proposal and said that he regrets turning her down. During an interview with YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra, the Bhediya star recalled falling for Natasha when he was in sixth grade. When I had seen Natasha for the first time, I think I did have the feeling that ‘she is the girl’. I was in sixth grade. Yet, I knew there is some connection."
Well, when Mishra asked if Natasha was the reason for which Varun rejected Shraddha Kapoor, the Judwa 2 actor laughed and said, “We were eight. At this age, what guy likes a girl? I was simply confused about why was she taking me to the mountains… Whatever happened there, we all know. But, let me tell you the story post that.”
Varun shared that even after two years of the incident Shraddha remembered the rejection and got him beaten up on her tenth birthday.
The Coolie No 1 actor said, “It was Shraddha’s tenth birthday party. She had invited me to her birthday and she was wearing a frock. At that time, there were around four guys who were in love with Shraddha. It was a birthday party, so we were all playing in the jumping bag."
Varun recalled that he was surrounded by some guys, who liked Shraddha. They questioned him why doesn't like Shraddha.

"I was like, ‘I am interested in dance competition.’ They were like, ‘No, no, you will have to like her.’ I am not even kidding. These were the guys who liked her. They started fighting with me. I was beaten up. She made them beat me up because I was not accepting her proposal. But, I also beat them up. It was a very filmy scene. And then I went on to take part in the dance competition and even won it. She came third.”
Well, after several years when they became teenagers, after Varun saw Shraddha, it wasn't the same. The Bawal actor said that Shraddha had become extremely beautiful by then.
"We were in different schools. There was a dandiya competition at her school, where I had participated. There too I was in trouble as I hit someone with dandiya stick. I was running for my life. I was trying to hide when I saw this girl walking in slow motion. It was Shraddha Kapoor. That day, she looked extremely beautiful. That day, I regretted turning her down. We then became friends. This is a huge story. You ask her what happened next,” added Varun.
Interestingly, Varun and Shraddha shared the screen space for the first time in ABCD 2 and next it was Stree 2. Though Varun reprised his role from Bhediya, he had a cameo in Stree 2. But, the audience loved the duo despite their limited screen presence.
Currently, Varun Dhawan seems to be cementing his place in Bollywood as a frontrunner. While several A-listers are waiting for their turn to team up with South ace filmmaker Atlee, after Shah Rukh Khan, Varun clinched the golden opportunity with Baby John. Varun's action-thriller, helmed by Kalees, hit the theatres today (Wednesday) and has received mixed response from the audience. While the day one collection of Baby John, also starring, Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sanya Malhotra and Jackie Shroff, is awaited, Salman Khan's cameo has streamed excitement among all.
