Rajpal Yadav recently opened about being offered the role of Jethalal in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the longest-running shows on television which revolves around the lives of the residents of the Gokuldham Co-operative Housing Society in Mumbai. The show is popular for its quirky character and interesting plots.
Jethalal is one of the most important characters of the show and actor Dilip Joshi has been portraying the character effortlessly since the its inception.

Though the makers have said that Dilip Joshi was their first choice, the role was also offered to ace comedian Rajpal Yadav but he declined it. However, he says that he has no regrets for not being a part of the show.
Rajpal Yadav, in a recent interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan, said he has no regrets for leaving Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
“Nahi, nahi. Jethalal ka character ki pehchaan ek achche adakaar, ek achche kalakaar ke haathon hui aur main har kirdaar ko kisi kalakaar ka kirdaar maanta hoon.”
He said that he was not destined to play the character and he has a good fortune as roles are written for him. But he has no regrets for doing the roles which are destined for others.
