Ace South filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s much-anticipated film SSMB29, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is shaping up to be one of Indian cinema’s biggest projects. While the makers have kept story details tightly under wraps, the film is widely expected to be a globe-trotting jungle action adventure, blending myth, mystery, and high-octane thrills.
From Adventurer to Divine Avatar
Earlier speculation suggested that Mahesh Babu would embody the divine powers of Lord Hanuman in parts of the film. However, a recent exclusive report by Deccan Chronicle reveals that Rajamouli has planned something even more striking, Mahesh Babu will portray Lord Ram in key portions of the narrative.

Epic Period Sequences Revealed
The report quoted a close source to the development as saying, "Mahesh Babu will be seen as Lord Ram in key portions of the film. The periodic sequences, lasting around eight minutes, will transport audiences hundreds of years back in time, where he takes on mighty Rakshasas."
The source further added that the movie sequences will give the superstar a never-seen-before divine avatar. The source described this as 'goosebump stuff' that will elevate Mahesh’s larger-than-life on-screen presence.
Filming in Kenya
Rajamouli is currently shooting significant portions of the film in Kenya. The country’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia W Mudavadi, recently disclosed that 95% of the African scenes for SSMB29 will be filmed there. Rajamouli himself praised the experience, calling it 'one of the most memorable moments' of his career.
