South actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who was seen in Prasanth Varma's blockbuster flick HanuMan as Teja Sajja aka Hanumanth's sister, recently broke down on a TV show. She failed to control her emotions after watching a powerful performance on the impact of sexual assault. During her appearance as a judge on a dance show, not only did she break down, Varalaxmi also bravely opened up about being sexually abused during her childhood days by 5-6 people.

Varalaxmi Reveals Facing 'Sexual Assault'
In a teaser shared on the YouTube channel of Zee Tamil, the HanuMan actress stood in solidarity with contestant Kemy, who shared her story of being harassed by her family. After hearing Kemy's story, Varalaxmi got emotional and was seen wiping her eyes.
Varalaxmi then narrated her ordeal and said, "I am just like you. My parents (actors Sarathkumar and Chaya) were working back then, so they used to leave me in the care of other people. Five to six people abused me as a child."
Actress Talks About 'Good Touch, Bad Touch'
Further, she added, "Your story is my story. I don't have any children. But, I tell parents to teach 'good touch' and 'bad touch' to children.”
Varalaxmi then walked to the contestant and gave her a hug. She also apologised for crying in front of the camera and said she doesn't get so vulnerable in public.

Notably, Varalaxmi got engaged to Mumbai gallerist Nicholia Sachdev in March last year. Varalaxmi's performance in HanuMan earned praise. She also starred in Dhanush's Raayan. Reportedly, she will be next seen in a Malayalam film titled Colours and has a Telugu film Sabari in her kitty.
