In a fresh controversy, veteran actor Mohan Babu is facing a serious allegation linked to the death of actress Soundarya, who was killed two decades ago in a plane crash.
Reportedly, a complaint has been filed in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh claiming that Soundarya’s death was not accidental but a murder linked to a property dispute with Mohan Babu.
As per a report by News18 Kannada, the complainant, Chittimallu, alleged that Soundarya and her brother had refused to sell six acres of land in Jalpalli village, Shamshabad, to Mohan Babu. It then led to a major conflict and later, the fatal crash took place. Surprisingly, as per Chittimallu, Mohan Babu allegedly took possession of the land forcefully.

The complainant further claimed to be facing threats due to this legal battle and has requested police protection. Mohan Babu or his representative is yet to make an official stattement regarding these allegations.

Who Was Soundarya?
Soundarya was a celebrated actress in South Indian cinema, known for her roles in films like Ammoru, Sooryavansham (opposite Amitabh Bachchan), Raja, and Padayappa (alongside Rajinikanth).
She won multiple awards, including two Nandi Awards and a Filmfare Award, and was widely appreciated for her natural acting and screen presence.
Apart from acting, she was involved in social causes and had joined politics, actively supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The Plane Crash – What Happened?
On April 17, 2004, Soundarya, along with her brother Amarnath and three others, boarded a private Cessna 180 aircraft from Jakkur Aerodrome in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
She was on her way to Karimnagar, Telangana, to campaign for BJP ahead of the general elections. Just minutes after takeoff, the aircraft developed a technical problem and crashed near Jakkur, bursting into flames.
All four passengers, including Soundarya and her brother, died on the spot due to severe burns and injuries.

Cause of the Crash
The exact cause of the crash was never fully confirmed, but reports suggested that engine failure and overloading could have played a role.
Eyewitnesses claimed they saw smoke coming from the plane before it crashed.
