Ramesh Sippy's cult movie Sholay that still remains beyond comparison with several top-gun Bollywood movies till date, recently completed 46 years. Bollywood's He-Man Dharmendra, Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar and Dream Girl Hema Malini along with Jaya Bhaduri were seen in major characters apart from debutant Amjad Khan as the antagonist in the cult movie.
The characters of Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev), Veeru (Dharmendra), Jai (Amitabh), Basanti (Hema) and Gabbar Singh the Dacoit Sardar (Amjad) are still lively. Among the other characters, Asrani (jailor), Jagdeep (Soorma Bhopali), Sachin (Ahmed), AK Hangal (Rahim Chacha), Mac Mohan (Sambha), Viju Khote (Kaalia) and Helen as the dancer are worth remembering.
Apart from the several characters, multiple dialogues from the classic movie are uttered by film lovers even of today's generations. The evergreen songs like Yeh Dosti and Mehbooba Mehbooba are beyond any comparison. While Yeh Dosti is considered as the friendship anthem, Mehbooba Mehbooba is one of the favourite dance numbers.

The entire B Town went crazy as the classic movie clocked 46 years of its release on August 15 this year.
Elated Director Ramesh penned down an emotional post on his Twitter handle: "#Sholay completes 46 years today.Time has flown by so quickly.46 years of unbelievable experience of working with such a great star cast &the entire team."
Iconic film Sholay is the 1st film made in 70 mm print, the 1st film which ran across 100 theatres for 25 weeks, the 1st movie which ran in Minerva theatre for over 5 years. The movie was declared as the "Movie of the millennium". Moreover, Sholay is the 1st film made in 3D format which was rereleased in 2014.
Fans flooded different social media platforms with their posts related to Sholay.
There are several stories related to Sholay and the lead characters which movie lovers have come across in these 46 years. However, Veeru aka Dharmendra took the level of excitement a bit further through his post.
The veteran actor in response to Ramesh Sippy's post on Twitter wrote: "Ramesh, congratulations captain on the completion of 46 years of Sholay. it is you Ramesh, who made Sholay shakaar e Aazam . Sholay is forever. I think I was the only bad actor amongst your talented team of great Artist. To me it was just a picnic and I enjoyed it Dharam way."
Fans are well aware about the mischievous acts of the veteran actor on the sets during shooting. But, this is something big admitted by him after several years. However, everyone performed their best that went on to make the movie a cult cinema of the millennium.
Sholay 2: Dharmendra Wants Abhisekh Bachchan and Bobby Deol In Sequel Movie
Journalist and author Roshmila Bhattacharya in her book, 'Matinee Men' said that Dharmendra once expressed his thoughts of Sholay's sequel. Dharam said that the idea of the sequel clocked his mind right after the movie’s ending.
The film ended with Jai’s untimely death and Gabbar Singh’s arrest after which Veeru and Basanti left the village. Continuing the story as per Dharam's thought, Veeru and Basanti got married and settled down somewhere else. With time, they had two sons who are brought up by Radha (Jaya) who fell in love with Jai in the film.
Dharam expressed his opinion to cast Abhisekh Bachchan and Bobby Deol as his two sons who will go back to Ramgarh to avenge Jai's death.
However, Veeru aka Dharmendra didn't reveal much about his idea of the sequel. But, his idea on the sequel looks certainly interesting.
