Robin Bhatt, the younger half-brother of Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt, said that he got a call and was asked if he had seen the film A Kiss Before Dying. Robin replied that he had read the original novel and believed it could be definitely adapted into a film. He was then asked to write a screenplay, as director-duo Abbas-Mustan wanted to direct the project.

Further, Robin also shared about the major casting challenges as the protagonist was actually the antagonist. He recalled approaching Akshay Kumar and Salim Khan (for Salman Khan) after finishing the script. While struggling to find the lead actor, it was then when Robin realized that none other than Shah Rukh Khan could embrace such a grey character fearlessly.

SRK's Condition for Accepting Baazigar Offer

As Rahul said, he met Shah Rukh at Hotel Villa, where they both often worked. The actor visited for sittings related to Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman while the writer focused on his projects.

During the meetings, Rahul understood that the Dil Aashna Hai actor had a different way of thinking, compared to other actors. Seizing the opportunity, Robin narrated Baazigar to Khan and by the time they reached the interval point, the actor agreed to work in the movie.

Robin recalled SRK as saying, "I will do the film if only you will leave the script as it is. You will not try and justify the character or make him grey.”
