1999's crime-drama Vaastav: The Reality, starring Sanjay Dutt as gangster Raghu is considered to have had a significant impact on his career. There were several iconic dialogues from the movie that are still popular like '50 Tola'. Even, Sanju Baba won the hearts of moviegoers with his powerful performance as Raghu and the character achieved a cult status. Well, a latest report suggests that after 26 years Sanju is all set to reprise his iconic role as Raghu in Vaastav 2. The KGF 2 actor is all set to team up with filmmaker and actor Mahesh Manjrekar.
According to the latest reports, Mahesh Majrekar has come up with an idea that perfectly fits as a sequel to Vaastav. A report by Pinkvilla states that the film will be a franchise film rather than an immediate continuation of the original story. A source revealed the portal that the concept stays true to the world of Vaastav and has already been shared with Sanjay. He is thrilled and eager to reprise his role as Raghu. Meanwhile, Manjrekar is currently working on developing the idea into a full screenplay.

Further, the source also revealed that producer Subhash Kale will bankroll the movie and the team has plans to begin filming by the end of 2025. The project is reportedly a two-hero subject. After Manjrekar locks the final script, they will look out for a younger actor for the parallel lead role.
Furthermore, the source also revealed that there will be clarity on the cast by the middle of 2025. Currently, Manjrekar and his team are working on the script and developing it into a packaged high-octane gangster drama with larger-than-life dialogues.
However, fans need to wait for an official confirmation.

Vaastav: The Reality is regarded as Indian cinema's original gangster film. Apart from Sanjay Dutt, the film featured Namrata Shirodkar, Sanjay Narvekar, Paresh Rawal, Reema Lagoo, Deepak Tijori, Mohnish Bahl, Ashish Vidyarthi and Shivaji Satyam among others. The sequel to the film titled Hathyar released in 2002, featuring Sanjay Dutt as Raghu's son Boxer Bhai with Shilpa Shetty as the female lead. While several actors reprised their roles in the sequel, it had some new faces including Sachin Khedekar, Sharad Kapoor, Gulshan Grover and Shakti Kapoor.
