The last few years have witnessed South movies going global while the craze for Bollywood movies seems to be fading. The journey of South movies going pan-India started with SS Rajamouli's Baahubali franchise. Following that, several movies from the South have witnessed remarkable box office performance, be it the KGF franchise or the building craze for the upcoming Pushpa 2: The Rule. While it has remained a topic of discussion for several years why South films took longer to impress the North audience, Tollywood queen Samantha Ruth Prabhu has shared her opinion on it.
Currently, Samantha is in the headlines for her latest release Citadel: Honey Bunny. After creating waves in the South industries, Sam has proven her excellence in the North. Be it The Family Man or Citadel: Honey Bunny, the audience has praised her performance.
Recently, the 'Oh! Baby' girl was asked about the North Vs South Cinema debate and share her opinion on why South films took longer to impress North audience.
To this, Sam replied, "I haven’t thought about why it took so long. However, I think that South Indians might be great filmmakers but might not be great at marketing. I think that might have been one of the reasons."

While speaking to Business Today, the Kushi actress added, "Rajamouli Sir, with Baahubali, really opened up (more avenues for South Indian films). He was probably the first person who thought, ‘Let’s see, I think this film has wings.’ I am really glad he thought that because he really opened the gates."
Well, while Baahubali opened the floodgates, several South movies have tasted success in the North. Even the excitement for several South movies remains high among the audience. To name a few, Pushpa 2: The Rule, Salaar: Part Two- Shouryanga Parvam, movies under Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe including Jai Hanuman, Mahakali, etc. and many more.
