Prithviraj Sukumaran, renowned for his versatility in Malayalam cinema, is poised for a demanding year ahead as he juggles multiple film projects.
The actor-director, currently immersed in the Gujarat schedule of ‘L2 Empuraan’, is set to temporarily shift gears to join the eagerly anticipated "Salaar 2: Shouryanga Parvam". Written and helmer by Prashanth Neel and starring Telugu superstar Prabhas in the lead, the sequel is slated to commence filming in Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City in August 2024.
Reportedly, Prithviraj will wrap the Gujarat leg of ‘L2 Empuraan’ by July 2024 before diving into his role as Varada Raja Mannaar in ‘Salaar 2’. Notably, he was also seen as Varda's grandfather Shiv Mannar, a character with a great story. As per Prithviraj, Shiva is interestingly connected with another cinematic universe of Neel.
This transition underscores his commitment to both acting and directing, balancing his presence between Neel's ambitious action thriller and his directorial ventures.
‘Salaar 2’ marks an exciting chapter as Prashanth Neel plans to weave intricate narratives simultaneously, including his upcoming project starring Jr. NTR. With over 20 per cent of the sequel already filmed, the production team gears up for extensive shooting across late 2024 and early 2025.
Following his stint in ‘Salaar 2’, Prithviraj is set to conclude long-delayed commitments, including ‘Vilayath Buddha’ and the Mohanlal-starrer. Apart from these projects, he also has an action thriller ‘Khaleefa’ directed by Vysakh.
Earlier in a media interaction, Neel confirmed that Salaar 2 is ready to go with Prabhas, Shruti Haasan, Prithviraj Sukumaran and others.
"We are ready to go with Salaar 2. But, I just need to take a break. I just got off KGF and I was into Salaar. I need to take a break from that," was quoted saying.

Salaar's Crossover with KGF or NTR31?
Earlier, Prithviraj, who played Varada Raj Mannar and also seen as Varda's grandfather Shiv Mannar, said that Shiva is interestingly connected with another cinematic universe of Neel. Further, he mentioned that Shiv's character is the coolest and has an unbelievable crossover with another cinematic universe. Well, fans have come up with various theories about the crossover. It is speculated that the crossover will be either with KGF or NTR 31 (Dragon).
However, moviegoers need to wait for clarification from the makers.
