The linkup rumours of actors Govinda and Neelam Kothari have remained a topic of interest for fans for many years. While Govinda had talked about his one-sided love for Neelam and breaking his engagement with Sunita, Neelam recently opened up about her relationship rumours with the actor.
Recently, during a conversation with Hauterfly, Neelam was questioned about rumours about her relationship with Govinda. Responding to the same, Neelam said, "I think link ups was part of the whole game. There was no one to clarify.”
Further, she added that media people printed whatever they felt like. Moreover, she also shared that back in those days, celebs were scared of the press because it was the power of the pen and it was just part of it.
"If you did more than 2-3 films, it was just understood that… (you were dating),” said Neelam.
For the unversed, actor Govinda became a star overnight with his debut flick Love 86. During an interview with Stardust in 1990, Govinda revealed that during his relationship with Sunita, he fell in love with his co-star Neelam. Govinda and Neelam paired in multiple movies which led him to develop a one-sided love for the actress. The Bhagam Bhag actor confessed that even at one time he broke his engagement with Sunita as he wanted to marry Neelam.

During the interview, Govinda also recalled falling in love with Neelam and fighting with Sunita, Govinda said, "I asked Sunita to leave me. I broke off my engagement with her. And had Sunita not called me after five days and coaxed me into it again, I would probably have married Neelam. I wanted to marry her. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.”
On the other hand, Neelam, who worked with Govinda in Ghar Mein Ram Gali Mein Shyam, Billoo Baadshah, Sindoor and Khudgarz, to name a few, took a break from acting. She came back on screens in 2000 with the reality TV show 'Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives'.
