The 71st Miss World pageant will be held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai today March 9. It is the second time that the international beauty contest has been held in India. The first such contest was held in 1996. In tonight’s Miss World ceremony, the current Miss World, Karolina Bielawska from Poland will crown the winner during the grand finale.
Who is hosting the Miss World 2024 finale?
The Miss pageant will start around 7.30 pm IST or 2 pm GMT. Sini Shetty who won the Miss India World 2022 title will represent India at the pageant. The 22-year-old is a finance graduate. The finale will be streamed live on SonyLive as well as on the official website of Miss World – www.missworld.com. Indian filmmaker Karan Johar will be co-hosting the pageant along with Miss World 2013 Megan Young, Philippines. The My Name Is Khan director has also served on a jury for this pageant in 2006.
Performers and judges for Miss World Tonight
Apart from some interesting rounds that will judge the beauty, sharpness, intellect, and general knowledge of the Miss World participants the event tonight will also have some scintillating performances by Shaan, Neha Kakkar, Tony Kakkar, and Toni-Ann Singh. A panel of 12 judges will decide the final winner of the contest tonight.
As expected most of the judges are high-profile names from the world of fashion, entertainment, and sports. These include renowned Bollywood movie producer and director Sajid Nadiadwala, Indian spinner and veteran cricketer Harbhajan Singh, social worker, and actress Amruta Fadnavis, Bollywood stars Kriti Sanon and Pooja Hegde, and the CEO of the Miss World Organization Julia Morley CBE.
The first Miss World contest in India was organised by Amitabh Bachchan’s ABCL Corporation. But since at that time, the awareness about such pageants was very low in India, the event did not receive the response as was expected by the organisers.
