MasterChef India is back with its seventh season. The reality show kicked off a day ago on Sony Television with world-famous chefs Vikas Khanna, Ranveer Brar, and Garima Arora as the judges. Home cooks across the country presented their culinary skills and won the hearts of the judges. One among them was Avinash Patnaik from Bhubaneswar who got direct entry into the kitchen of MasterChef India Season 7.
He not only impressed the judges with his exclusive dish but also surprised them with his expertise in blending the traditional local flavours, and extracts from flowers into his cooking. Avinash Patnaik is a Ph.D. student who is currently pursuing a doctorate in Horticulture and belongs to the capital city of Odisha -Bhubaneswar.
The 32-year-old presented the traditional dessert - Gaintha Pitha flavoured with pandan leaves. He served the dish with Indian almonds and coral jasmine-infused milk. Interestingly, most of the ingredients that Avinash used in this dish were grown by him and the flavours he added were extracted from edible flowers that are easily found in India.
The blue colour in the dessert was derived from the butterfly pea flower also known as the Aparajita flower in India which is also used in tea in Thailand.
Not only was the presentation of top quality the judges also found its taste up to the mark. All three judges appreciated his presentation skills and gave him direct entry into the kitchen of MasterChef India Season 7.
Other contestants who got the MasterChef apron on the first episode included Priyanka Kundu Biswas, a cake artist, Mohabbat Singh Cheema from Punjab who is a Food Truck Owner as well as a Farmer, and Dyuti Banerjee from Bengal.
