Kalki 2898 AD: Kamal Haasan turns nostalgic, shares interesting anecdote with Amitabh Bachchan
The countdown for the release of Kalki 2898 AD has already begun. Starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani in pivotal roles, the teaser and trailer of the sci-fi action movie have elevated the excitement among all. Meanwhile, fans are eagerly waiting to witness the mega clash of Ashwatthama and Bhairava. On the other hand, the excitement among all has reached the zenith to know more about another legendary actor's character in the movie- Kamal Haasan.
Well, after almost four decades, Kamal and Amitabh are working together on the movie. Earlier they featured together in 1985's action drama Geraftaar, which also starred Rajinikanth. Though Amitabh Bachchan made a special appearance in 2005's Mumbai Xpress, starring Kamal Haasan, Geraftaar is the only full-fledged film starring the two most iconic actors of Indian cinema.
Indeed, Kalki 2898 AD will be a treat for admirers of Big B and Kamal.
Recently, during the grand promotional event of Kalki 2898 AD, producer, C Aswani Dutt of Vijayanthi Films, handed over the first-day first show ticket to Amitabh Bachchan, which is a tradition followed by the Telugu film industry. However, Big B handed over the ticket to his "brother, friend" and co-star Kamal Haasan.

Expressing his joy and honour on receiving the ticket from Big B himself, Kamal shared an anecdote from the time he worked on Amitabh’s Sholay (1975) as a film technician. However, he had to wait for three weeks to grab a ticket and watch the classic cult.
Kamal said, “I wish this had happened four to five decades ago as I waited for three weeks to watch Sholay. I hope there are many more fans who must be waiting for weeks to see the film like I did for Sholay. I never thought I’ll get the first day first show ticket from Mr Amitabh Bachchan. I was a film technician and now I’m an actor, and nothing much has changed.”
Further Kamal, who plays the role of a 'sage with bad thoughts' in Kalki 2898 AD, also shared about his experience of working in the highly anticipated movie.
He shared that he wanted to play an out-and-out bad guy. Talking about his looks in the movie, he said, “We had a lot to talk about (through the look), and also not look like something else that I had done already or somebody else has done already. I thought I had a fantastic idea and I had not seen any images of the film. So, I thought I would dress myself up in such a way that people will turn around and look at me."
Furthermore, he added, “This get up took a lot of time. We travelled to LA, we failed a couple of times before we arrived on the acceptable look. So, it’s a collaboration, and I hope the audience will react the same way we did when we saw the first look.”
Enthralled moviegoers are well aware that Deepika's character is carrying a 'divine baby' in her womb and the sole purpose of Ashwatthama is to protect the baby, while Disha will be playing Bhairava's love interest. However, nothing much has been revealed about Kamal Haasan's character. Even it is not known if Amitabh and Kamal will have a face-off in the movie or not. Well, fans need to wait until the flick hits the theatres on June 27.
