After years of relationship, Yaariyan actress Rakul Preet Singh married actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani in a beautiful wedding in Goa. The couple married in both Sikh and Sindhi traditions.
Rakul and Jackky, who were initially neighbours, had been close friends. However, their friendship blossomed into love during the Covid-19-induced lockdown. The two made their relationship official in 2021 after Jackky wished Rakul on her birthday with a heartfelt message.
Since then, the two have been spotted together in numerous occasions, attending parties, dinners, and various other social gatherings. However, it wasn’t easy for the ‘Kal Kisne Dekha’ actor to convince Rakul’s father for marriage who is a retired Indian Army officer.
The actor was grilled by her father when they first met. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Rakul Preet Singh opened up about her then-boyfriend and now husband’s first meeting with her father and said, “I think I was the most worried. I prepped my dad and told him he is coming and meeting you for the first time. Do not make it very awkward. He is not army. But then fathers being fathers… ask the question straight up. But Jackky was prepared.”
She continued, “He had come to Delhi for my mom’s birthday. I had asked my father not to make it awkward because we had just started dating. We were having lunch when my dad asked him what his plan was. He started with plans for his Akshay Kumar-film ‘Mission Raniganj’. However, my dad just said, ‘work and all is good but what is your plan with my daughter’. My food got stuck in my throat.”

In reply, Jackky said that 'he will be ready, when his daughter is ready'. This impressed Rakul’s dad so much that he became his ‘fan’.
Their wedding was a star-studded affair in the presence of Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Esha Deol, Ayushmann Khurrana and others in attendance.
