Rekha is the eternal glamour diva of Bollywood. While the actresses of her times have aged and look old, Rekha despite aging continues to look beautiful and a head-turner. However, life has not been easy for this evergreen superstar who right from her childhood has suffered one way or the other.
Rekha is an illegitimate child of Southern superstar
Born initially as Bhanurekha Ganesan, her father Gemini Ganesan who was the biggest South Indian superstar of that time never really acknowledged her existence or relationship with her mother Pushpavalli who was also a Telugu actress. During one of her rare revealing interviews with Simi Grewal, the National Award-winning actress said that she had no contact with her father and he didn't ever talk to her even when at times they were under the same ceiling or stage.
Not the one to let her bitterness overrule her life, Rekha however, developed a good bond with her half-sisters, and brother.
Multiple Affairs that many times left her devastated
Her alleged affair with Amitabh Bachchan has been much-discussed in the tabloid. While Big B has never publicly admitted his fling with Rekha, the actress many times has indicated that there has been some affiliation between the two. Apart from Amitabh, Rekha’s name has been linked to many Bollywood stars including Navin Nischol who was her first co-star in Solva Sawan. She was also reportedly married to Ghar costar Vinod Mehra but later refuted the rumours.
Her alleged relationships with Raj Babbar and upcoming actors of those times like Kanwaljeet Singh and Shekhar Suman did not surprise many because Rekha has always been restless as she could not get the trust and love that she had been seeking all her life.
But her special inclination towards Akshay Kumar during the making of Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi forced Akki’s then-girlfriend Raveena Tandon to take an uncompromising stand and stop frequent visits of the Bollywood queen.
Marriage with Mukesh Aggarwal and the suicide drama
In the latter years of her life, way past her prime time in Bollywood, Rekha married a businessman Mukesh Aggarwal. Reportedly, all was not well between the two from the start and within a year Mukesh committed suicide once again leaving Rekha baffled, alone, and without love.
