Years ago when the comedy show of Kapil Sharma first started on television, it was Sunil Grover who got equal footage and popularity along with Kapil. His characters like Dr. Mashoor Gulati, Gutthi, and Rinku Bhabhi are still remembered and fans still want him to return to The Kapil Sharma Show. But post the infamous spat with Kappu on the flight, Sunil decided to part ways and has never collaborated with Kapil.
But in a way, it has worked in his favour. Rather, after the way his career has shaped in the last couple of years, it can be easily said that leaving Kapil's show was the best thing that happened to Sunil Grover. While even before joining Kapil he did work in a few comedy serials on television and acted in movies, after leaving Kapil's show he mainly focused on improving his career as an actor.
Salman Khan's Bharat, Saif Ali Khan led Abbas Ali Zafar's Tandav or his last series Sunflower, Sunil Grover has grown step by step with these releases. While his presence in all these projects was highly appreciated, his OTT released Sunflower has now also won him a Best Critics actor award from Filmfare.
Looking back at the growing career graph of Sunil Grover, it can be easily said that he started trying out for different roles post-dropping out of Kapil Sharma's show. Maybe he wanted to prove to himself and to his fans that he can do well without the support of the hit comedy show and make a successful career as an actor.
Of course, it is not as if Sunil has left the comedy genre completely. He did try to do different characters in yet another comedy show but thankfully the attempt was not successful which made Sunil focus his attention on doing different, dynamic roles. And, what we have now is a highly talented actor who can do justice to all types of characters.
