Dostana 2 back on track with Lakshya! Who is taking over Kartik Aaryan's role?

Dostana 2 was first announced with Kartik Aaryan, Lakshya and Janhvi Kapoor in 2019. However, after 21 days of shooting, the sequel to 2008's blockbuster Dostana was put on hold as Koki walked out due to 'creative differences' with Karan Johar. Ultimately, the movie was put on the back burner and reports claimed that the sequel might never happen. However, the latest report suggests that Dostana 2 is back on track with Lakshya. But, Koki is not a part of it despite his compromise with KJo.

Dostana 2 With Lakshya and...?

Notably, Lakshya was to make his Bollywood debut with Dostana 2. However, after the movie was put on hold, he debuted with Kill (2023). Reportedly, now that the 'stalled' project is back on track, he continues to be a part of it. However, despite Koki and KJo having put their past differences aside, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 actor is no longer a part of the revived project.

According to the latest report by Mid-Day, Vikrant Massey is replacing Kartik Aaryan in the long-delayed sequel.

The report quoted a close source to the development as saying, "As initial talk about reviving the rom-com began in the production house, retaining Lakshya was a no-brainer."

Vikrant Massey Strong Contender?

Further, the source added that 12th Fail fame Vikrant Massey is a strong contender for replacing Koki. He also revealed to the news portal that the makers wanted a fresh jodi and actors with chemistry and gravitas and Vikrant matches the criteria.

However, an official confirmation backing the claims about the Dostana 2 revival with Lakshya on board and Vikrant Massey replacing Kartik Aaryan is awaited.
