Farhan Akhtar teased the first news about Don 3 a day ago. And true to his promise, he has now unveiled the first look of Ranveer Singh as the new Don replacing Shah Rukh Khan.
In the typical style usually followed by the Don franchise helmed by Farhan, the introduction is full of swag and keeps the mystery until the last shot when the face of the Simmba actor is revealed dramatically.
Of course, for those who love Ranveer Singh, it is child’s play to guess who the next Don is as his silhouette and background commentary from the start makes his presence quite obvious.
Farhan and Ritesh took time to make the announcement
Rumours have been adrift for more than a few months now that SRK has left the franchise and Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani are now replacing him with the Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani actor.
Nevertheless, it was important for them to check out the current response for the Bollywood superstar among the audience since the last few of his movies did not do well. But his recent release helmed by Karan Johar has proved that Ranveer does have the ability to carry a movie on his shoulders and make it a big blockbuster.
However, fans of the Don franchise do not seem to be happy about this casting. They believe that no one can replace Shah Rukh Khan as Don and it is sure to turn out as a disaster similar to Race 3. For the unversed, it was Saif Ali Khan who led the first two movies from the Race franchise but when he was replaced by Salman Khan for Race 3 it was a big disaster.
Akhtar and Ranveer team has always delivered
Fans of the Pathaan actor believe that Don 3 will have the same fate as Race 3. But what needs to be considered is that Farhan Akhtar has a splendid record as a director. He was the one who introduced SRK as Don when no one was ready to accept him in Amitabh Bachchan’s place. And the same team who worked on the script and story of the earlier two movies of Don is working on Don 3.
Secondly, Ranveer Singh has a good track record with Farhan and Zoya Akhtar. Both Dil Dhadakne Do and Gully Boy were single-handedly carried by the flamboyant superstar on his shoulders and they were blockbusters.
So, while Ranveer may not have the swag of SRK or the iconic baritone voice of Big B, he will hopefully contribute his personal charm to the character.
