The highly anticipated spy thriller, Citadel: Honey Bunny, starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan in lead roles, has finally arrived.

The much-awaited action drama is created by ace directors Raj and DK, who are known for films like The Family Man and Farzi.

The six-part series is a prequel to Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas-starrer International spy series Citadel 2023 created by the Russo Brothers.  The Indian series adaptation serves as an origin story for Chopra Jonas' character Nadia Sinh.

Here is a review of the first two episodes of the much-awaited series:

The series opens in the 2000s set in Nainital to Samantha’s character Honey driving a scooter to drop her daughter Nadia off at her school. Honey runs a cafe and is living a peaceful life until she notices an unknown man from her past following her. After this, she is shown going back in time to 1990s to Mumbai where she is seen as a struggling actor trying to make ends meet. Honey is close friends with Rahi Gambhir, aka Bunny, who is a stuntman in the movies. However, his actual job is as a spy agent, working under his Baba, who is played by Kay Kay Menon.

Through flashbacks and flashforwards, you get a sense of how Honey and Bunny have been separated and left the spy world but are once again brought together to protect their daughter Nadia. It can be seen Honey has trained Nadia well to keep herself safe.

The first episode belongs to Samantha as she shines in every frame from portraying a protective mother to performing the stunts she does with ease. Varun Dhawan is also equally impressive. The child artist Kashvi Majmundar who plays Nadia has also done an amazing job. Kay Kay Menon appears in a few scenes but he commands his presence.

So overall the first two episodes are intriguing, engaging and keep on the hook.
