Actor Babil Khan, son of the late Irrfan Khan, recently found himself at the centre of a social media storm following the circulation of an emotional video in which he expressed feelings of isolation within the Bollywood industry. 

The video, which showed Babil tearfully discussing the industry's perceived superficiality and naming several peers, led to widespread speculation and concern among fans and fellow actors.

The Viral Video and Immediate Fallout

On May 4, 2025, a video of Babil Khan surfaced online, showing the visibly distressed actor lamenting the state of Bollywood, describing it as "so f****d" and "so, so rude." 

In the video, he mentioned several contemporaries, including Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav, and Arijit Singh. 

The candid nature of the video led to various interpretations, with some viewers expressing concern for Babil's mental health and others speculating about his relationships within the industry.

Clarification from Babil's Team

In response to the growing speculation, Babil's team issued an official statement clarifying the intent behind the video. They emphasised that the actor's comments were "widely misinterpreted" and that he was, in fact, expressing admiration for the peers he mentioned, acknowledging their authenticity and contributions to the evolving landscape of Indian cinema. 

The statement also highlighted Babil's openness about his mental health journey and reassured fans of his well-being.

Support from Industry Peers

Following the clarification, several actors named in the video publicly expressed their support for Babil. Ananya Panday shared a message on her Instagram Stories, stating, "Only love and good energy for you Babil, always in your corner." 

Siddhant Chaturvedi also posted a video of Babil and wrote a heartfelt note urging people not to seek drama in actors' personal lives, emphasising the importance of empathy and understanding.

Raghav Juyal referred to Babil as "family" and expressed unwavering support. 

Harshvardhan Rane advised Babil to "stay away from alcohol and any such stuff," emphasising the importance of self-care and resilience in the industry.

Controversy with Filmmaker Sai Rajesh

Amid the outpouring of support, filmmaker Sai Rajesh criticised the clarification issued by Babil's team, accusing them of selective acknowledgement and questioning the sincerity of their statement. 

In a now-deleted emotional response, Babil revealed the extent of his dedication to a project with Rajesh, stating, "I slit my f***ing wrist for him," highlighting the physical and emotional toll he endured for the role. This exchange added another layer of complexity to the ongoing discourse surrounding Babil's video.

Babil's Return to Social Media

After briefly deactivating his Instagram account, Babil returned to the platform, sharing posts that reiterated his admiration for the peers he mentioned in the video. 

He expressed gratitude for their support and clarified that his initial intent was to highlight the positive impact these individuals have had on him and the industry. 

Babil's return was met with encouragement from fans and colleagues alike, who commended his vulnerability and honesty.
