Deewaar and Amitabh Bachchan aka Vijay's Death Scene

Amitabh Bachchan worked in multiple movies after his debut in 1969's Saat Hindustani, but he got his breakthrough with 1973's Zanjeer. Bollywood's cult classic movies like Abhimaan, Deewaar, Sholay, Kabhi Kabhie, Trishul, and Don, to name a few, catapulted his stardom. Among all these cult classics, Deewaar holds a special place in the hearts of his fans. The iconic anti-hero flick shaped Big B's career leaving a lasting impact on moviegoers.

From working as a Coolie on the docks to becoming a leading figure of the underworld, Amitabh Bachchan pulled down the character within himself making it lively. However, he finally meets his fate. 

After his final clash with his brother Ravi (Shashi Kapoor), Vijay gets grievously injured. Later, he breathes his last in their mother Sumitra's (Nirupa Roy) arms, leaving her extremely shattered.

How Did Teji Bachchan React to Amitabh Bachchan's Death Scene in Deewaar?

Walking down memory lane, Amitabh Bachchan in Kaun Banega Crorepati once recalled how his mother reacted to the death scene in the movie. 

Narrating the incident to the show's guests, Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Sanon, Big B said, "Mein apni maa ko le gaya tha Deewaar dekhne. Aur jab woh film ka last scene, khatam hai jahan pe meri death ho jati hai, unhone itna rona shurru kar diya, it became embarrassing, you know..." 

"Abhi 20 log baithe hain aur woh royi chali ja rahi hain. Mein unko khud theatre se bahar le gaya. Maine bola ki maa mein zinda hoon, apke samne khada hoon..." he added.

"For long, kai ghanton tak woh chalta raha. Toh, yeh asar ho jata hai kahin na kahin. Pariwar ka bada sambandh hota hai. Yeh bada hi awasyak hota hai hum sabke jiwaan mein," he concluded.
