Navya Naveli Nanda is back with the second season of What’s the Hell Navya, released a day ago. As in the last season, the three women from the Bachchan-Nanda clan representing three generations are going to discuss several social and behavioural issues in this season as well. One of the clips from the recent episode shows the Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani actress saying that she considers her daughter Shweta her strength more than her son Abhishek Bachchan.
Now that is a bit shocking because Shweta has said it repeatedly during her Koffee with Karan appearance and even on other occasions that Abhishek is Jaya Bachchan’s favourite child. Amid Jaya favouring Shweta, now strong words by none other than the legendary Rekha (rumoured girlfriend of Amitabh Bachchan) praising the Bachchan bahu Aishwarya have found their way to the web.
When Rekhaji called Aishwarya an Indian treasure
The post is from the time when the former Miss World was called a plastic face with no expressions. Fiery Rekhaji immediately came out in support of Ash. The Krrish actress said, “Among the models I admire, I find Aishwarya the best. I disagree with the media that she is plastic. I find her very expressive. I will fight for her like a tigress if need be. My heart goes out to Ash. She’s been around for so long and yet not been there. That’s how it was with me until Umrao Jaan.”
The legendary Rekhaji further says, “It seemed improbable that a Tamil girl speaking Urdu would work. She does not need to go to Hollywood. She is our own. Why Bride and Prejudice? Who are these people from outside trying to tap Aishwarya’s potential? She’s our treasure. It’s time we acknowledge it.”
The post is all the more significant in the view that there have been constant rumours about a tiff between Ash and Abhishek as well as the Bachchan family. Speculations about Ash and Abhi heading towards divorce have also gained momentum since last year despite the couple making multiple appearances at various events together.
Importantly, there is a strong buzz that it is the disturbed relationship between Jaya Bachchan, Shweta, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan that has caused a big issue in the Bachchan family. It seems that the girls from the Bachchan-Nanda clan have sidelined Ash as the three of them are always seen together but never supporting or going out with Aishwarya or her daughter Aaradhya.
On the other hand, Rekha and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have always shared an endearing closeness even though after her rumoured breakup with Big B, Rekha has always maintained her distance from the Bachchan family. The letter that Rekhaji has addressed Ash has been signed off as Rekha Maa which shows the close bond the two Bollywood divas share. With neither Shweta nor Abhishek ever even acknowledging the presence of Rekha in public, this closeness of Ash with the Mr. Natwarlal actress is heartwarming.
