Tollywood Prince Mahesh Babu and ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli recently kicked off the much-awaited action adventure thriller SSMB29 with a grand pooja ceremony in Hyderabad. Undeniably, this marks the beginning of a new chapter of Indian cinema. While reports have been abuzz about Priyanka Chopra Jonas' potential involvement in the project as the leading lady, no official confirmation has been made yet. Amid the hype for SSMB29, new reports have surfaced that after wrapping up the action-packed adventure thriller, Rajamouli will focus on his long-awaited dream project Mahabharata.
Reports of Rajamouli's planning to adapt the Indian epic Mahabharata had surfaced long back. However, a recent report by Times Now states that the Baahubali helmer might have set plans for another project in the pipeline which will commence only after he wraps up SSMB29.

The report quoted a close source to the director as saying, "Raja has always wanted to do his version of the Mahabharata. In fact, he wanted to do the Mahabharata right after Baahubali. But he was advised against it, as it was seen to be too dangerous to go down that road at that time. So he did RRR instead. But now, it is do-or-die for him. He feels if he doesn’t get into it he never will."
Notably, earlier Rajamouli expressing his interest in doing Mahabharat said, "Doing the Mahabharata is a long-cherished dream. I have lived with that dream for ten years. And I am sure I will do it one day."
Well, if there is anyone who can do justice to the Indian epic, it is Rajamouli. Because Rajamouli has already built a reputation with the grand scale of the Baahubali franchise and RRR. The latest report has certainly thrilled the fans.

Well, fans might have to wait for three to four years as currently Rajamouli is focused on SSMB29, being made at a whooping budget of Rs 1000 crore. And, it will be made in two instalments.
For the unversed, the pooja ceremony of SSMB29 was a low-key but significant affair. The event was held at an Aluminum Factory and attended by key members of the film's crew including Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu.
