Days after the National Testing Agency (NTA) postponed the JEE Mains Session 2 exam, engineering aspirants have once again started demanding further postponement of the entrance exam.
Taking cognizance of the students’ demand, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has now sent a letter to NTA to look into the demands.
In the letter, NCPCR said several complaints have been received from students all over the country stating that NTA has not conducted exam of JEE Mains 2022 1st Session properly due to multiple issues, such as server issue and technical glitches.
It has been further mentioned in the representations received from students that there was delay in the release of admit card of the exam; more than 200 trains got cancelled due to protests in the country and the state of Assam had severe flood situation, the NCPCR stated.
“As per the complaints, the mentioned issues have affected the attempt of JEE aspirants and increased the mental stress of the children. Moreover, it has also been informed that the gap between 1st and second Session/Attempt of JEE Mains Exam 2022 is only 20 days which makes it very difficult for students to prepare for their second attempt," the letter stated.
It continued: "The students have asked for consideration from the competent authorities conducting JEE Examination. The representations are being forwarded to you for immediate necessary consideration in the best interest of the children at your end.”
Now, following the intervention of NCPCR, students the engineering aspirants are hopeful of their demands being considered. “We are not against appearing for the exam, but there are several things to look into like server issue, protests against Agnipath, floods, technical shutdown and mistakes in response sheet,” said a student.
Demanding postponement, another student said, “JEE Mains first attempt was not at all a fair attempt for all students. Server issues were witnessed across the country. And, this mismanagement has put the future of students at stake.”
However, the NTA is yet to respond on the matter. Therefore, candidates should regularly visit the official site of the exam conducting authority for details related to the engineering entrance exam and not fall prey to rumours.
The NTA recently revised the schedule of the second session of JEE Main 2022 which was earlier scheduled to be held from July 21 to July 30. Now, the entrance will commence on July 25.
