In a significant move aimed at safeguarding the academic interests and future prospects of students who appeared for the +2 examinations across the state, the Higher Education Department of Odisha on Tuesday decided to extend the deadline for submission of the Common Application Form (CAF) for undergraduate (UG) course admissions.

The Common Application Form is a mandatory requirement for students seeking admission to various undergraduate programs through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal. With thousands of students eagerly awaiting their results and planning their higher education journey, this extension is expected to provide much-needed relief.

As per the official notification, students will now be able to fill out and submit their CAF online through the SAMS portal until June 1, 2025. In addition, students will also have the opportunity to upload their +2 marks on or before the same deadline. This move comes as a thoughtful response to the ongoing concerns expressed by students and parents regarding time constraints and result declaration timelines.

How Students Will Benefit?

Earlier, the last date for submission was scheduled for today. However, considering the interests of students and the ongoing +2 examination evaluation processes, the government decided to provide additional time for applicants.

With this extension, students now have a wider window to complete the online application process for enrollment into various undergraduate courses across colleges in the state. The updated deadline applies to all activities related to the admission process, including the submission of personal details, course preferences, and uploading of academic records.

Officials from the Higher Education Department emphasized that the extension has been made to ensure that no eligible student misses the chance to apply for UG courses due to unforeseen delays or technical issues. It is also intended to encourage wider participation and prevent last-minute rush or errors during the application process.

Students are advised to utilize this extended timeline effectively, complete their applications well in advance of the final date, and ensure all necessary documents, including +2 marksheets, are correctly uploaded.

This decision is being widely appreciated by the academic community, with many seeing it as a student-friendly step that prioritizes accessibility, inclusivity, and academic planning.
