After a hiatus of around six months, classroom teaching at technical institutes across the State resumed today in strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) laid down by the Odisha Government.
Authorities of all the institutes have made elaborate arrangements to commence the classes for students in an infection-free environment with proper sanitisation of classrooms, laborotories, libraries and offices. On the other hand, Universities, Colleges physical classes will start from Aug 16.
Students and staff have expressed pleasure over the resumption of offline classes after a long gap.

“Physical classes are the need of the hour as it was very difficult to conduct practical classes though virtual mode. Moreover, many students also remained absent during on-line classes due to various reasons like internet issues and affordability,” said a teacher at the Government ITI in Cuttack.
“We have made the seating arrangements in an organised manner so that students can maintain physical distance. They are also using masks inside the classes,” she added.
Similar arrangements had been made during the first wave of the pandemic. “We are following the SOPs prepared by the government while attending classes. I am happy after seeing my friends and teachers in the class room,” said a student.
As per the government decision, only final year students are allowed to attend the classes. Decision on resumption of other classes will be taken later, said Premananda Nayak, Minister for Skill Development and Technical Education.
Students from outside the country pursuing study in Odisha have been asked to produce double dose Covid vaccine certificate.
The State has around 200 technical institutes offering courses like MBA, MCA, Pharmacy and engineering while the number of ITI and Diploma institutes are around 150.
