Even as uncertainty still prevails over the reopening of schools, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Wednesday said that no decision has been taken as yet on the resumption of physical mode of education in Odisha.
The bulk of the districts in the State are under partial lockdown in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases even though the daily cases are registering a decline in many districts.
Dash said that already elaborate measures have been taken to ensure that the studies of students are not hampered. They are being taught through online mode even though it has not been possible to reach to every student.

“Due to such lacuna and other factors, we have decided to reduce the syllabus of Class 9 and 10 by at least per cent in the first phase ,” said Dash.
It is pertinent to mention here that the syllabus for Class 9 and 10 students was reduced by 30 % in view of the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
The Odisha government has started live streaming of classes on YouTube platform for Class I to Class X students and a detailed blue print has been prepared by the School and Mass Education Department to reach out to students through virtual mode.
The online teaching process for the students of Classes 9 and 10 will continue till July 31, informed official sources. Four periods, beginning from 10.45 to 1 pm, will be held for five days from Monday to Friday. Similarly, Class I to VIII students will learn through online mode till July 7, as per an official notification.
