At a time when the online application submission process for JEE Main 2023 Session 1 has already begun, a fresh petition has been filed before the Bombay High Court demanding postponement of the exam.
According to Bar and Bench, the petitioner has also demanded relaxation in the eligibility criteria for the Joint Entrance Examination, Main 2023.
The petitioner has further said that the announcement for the exam was made by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the entrance test, on a very short notice.
In the plea, it has been cited that the January session of JEE Main 2023 clashes with Class 12 board exams, pre-boards and viva-voce of ICSE, CBSE and other state board exams.
Hence, the petitioner has demanded deferment of the JEE Main 2023 to April 2023 or any other convenient date only after having a thorough discussion with the boards.
Besides, as per Bar and Bench, the plea read: “The eligibility of 75% in Higher Secondary Class Board Examinations will hit lakhs of students who can score very high in the Mains examination but may not have 75% minimum marks in their board examinations.”
As per the dateline released by the NTA, for the academic session 2023-24, the JEE Main 2023 will be conducted in two sessions i.e. Session 1 (January 2023) and Session 2 (April 2023).
Candidates can submit online application through www.nta.ac.in and www.jeemain.nta.nic.in from December 15, 2022 to January 12, 2023.
The exam will be conducted in 13 languages - English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
