The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has now decided to act tough against those involved in spreading fake news on social media platforms regarding the upcoming Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations.
In its latest advisory, the CBSE stated that it has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the boarding examinations from February 15 to April 2, 2024.

There have been precedents in the past that some unscrupulous elements spread rumours on YouTube, Facebook, X, Telegram and other social media platforms about paper leaks to claim to have access to question papers of exams.
What CBSE Said In Its Latest Advisory
It has also been observed that miscreants also circulate fake pictures/ videos of question papers which they claim that they have access of question paper which could be made available against payment of money.
These groups or agencies fleece the students and parents as they demand money in return. This usually creates panic and confusion among the students.
Action Planned By CBSE
The CBSE claimed that it is vigilant and identifying and taking action against those spreading fake news and rumours. The CBSE is closely monitoring the situation with the help of law enforcing agencies to take stern action against persons involved in circulating fake news on social media platforms under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code and IT Act.
Action Against Students
The CBSE, in its latest notice, said to take action against students under ‘Unfair Means’ Rules and various sections of Indian Penal Code if found indulging in spreading fake news. CBSE has asked parents to guide their wards not to believe in rumours and not indulge in any such activity which hampers the smooth conduct of the board examinations.
