In a bizarre turn of events, a plus II student in Ganjam district received the shock of his life after discovering that he had failed in the CHSE board exams while claiming his Transfer Certificate (TC) from the college even though his result card mentioned him ‘Passed’ earlier.
Deepak Kumar Swain, a resident of Tulasipalli village near Bhanjanagar and a plus II student of Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja College could not appear this year’s board exams due to Corona resurgence like many others.
The CHSE results declared under the alternative evaluation method showed that he had passed the exams with 238 marks. However, when he reached the college a few days later to claim the TC for admission in Diploma course at a technical institute, he found that he has failed in the exams.

Later Deepak approached the college Principal for resolution of his grievance when he was informed that not only he, three more students of the college have also faced similar type of irregularities in their mark sheet.
“Initially, when the Board declared the scorecard over the online portal, we saw most students had passed the exam with good scores, but the mark lists showed otherwise. Many who had secured first division found themselves slipped to second division while the scores of some others showed ‘failed’ remark,” informed the college principal Subash Pradhan.
He further assured that the Council (Board) officials have been intimated about the cases and very soon they will be resolved.
“The officials informed that some errors crept into the results due to hurried evaluation, but soon they will be reviewed and the revised results will be sent to the students,” said the Principal.
