Thousands of students in Odisha who had appeared in the Plus 2 offline examination last month are staring at an uncertain future as they are unable to take admission in Plus 3 courses due to the inordinate delay in the announcement of results.
The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) had conducted the Plus 2 offline examination for students, who were not satisfied with the marks secured in the online examinations, from October 1-11. Though nearly a month has passed, the Board is yet to start the process for the announcement of the results. Leave alone results, the Board has not even started the evaluation process of the answer sheets.
On the other hand, first year Plus 3 classes have already started in colleges across the State. But the Board seems to be oblivious about the fate of 13,043 offline candidates who are still waiting for the announcement of their results so that they could get admission in Plus 3 and resume their studies.

With the prevailing situation arising out of the alleged careless and lackadaisical attitude of the CHSE authorities, most of the students, who have been deprived of admission in Plus 3, are going through a traumatic situation. They, along with their anxious guardians, have time and again expressed their concern over the delay. However, their pleas seem to have fallen in deaf years.
“We have no clue about the date of announcement of offline examination results. Our friends have already taken admission in various colleges as per their preferences. We are lagging behind in studies and going through severe frustration at the moment,” rued Sanjay Barik, a student.
“We request the government to announce the results of offline examinations at the earliest. It will enable us to take admission in Plus 3 and resume our study,” said another student, Bandana Barik.
A lecturers’ association in the State has also raised questions over the intension of the State government.
“Earlier, the Board had promised to announce the results within 15 days after the completion of the offline examination. But, we don’t understand why the evaluation of the answer sheets has not been initiated as yet,” said Golak Nayak, President of the Association.
On the other hand, the CHSE has been strangely maintaining a stoic silence over the matter for unknown reasons.
“The offline examination results should be announced at the earliest. The students should get admissions in Plus 3 quickly and their precious time should not be wasted,” said Prabodh Panda, Former Junior Examination Controller of CHSE.
