Once again the steel city of Rourkela is on the boil. This time a firing incident over a minor disagreement has sparked concern among the residents. In the latest incident, a youth has been injured after being shot at by a group of youths.
The injured, Samuel Sarkar was allegedly attacked by a group of five to six individuals at Bondamunda area with sharp weapons and subsequently fired two bullets at him. However, the youth has sustained no bullet injury.
“I was doing exercise when two groups came and started an argument among themselves. I asked them to sort things between them outside. Later, five to six youths came and attacked me with swords and later fired at me,” said Sarkar.
The Bondamunda Police Station has launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident. A dedicated police team has been constituted and is conducting raids across various locations.
Earlier today, a scientific team conducted a detailed examination of the crime scene, where they recovered empty bullet shell from the spot.
Several youths have been detained for questioning in connection to the incident. Authorities are investigating the source of the firearm and exploring any potential relationship between the attackers and the victim
Local residents alleged that a similar firing incident was reported some two months backs at Traffic gate area and the culprits are yet to be apprehended.
