Youth hacked to death in Bhubaneswar in broad daylight; probe launched

Throwing an open challenge to Commissionerate Police, miscreants brutally hacked a youth in broad daylight on Rasulgarh to Vani Vihar national highway on Wednesday while the Capital city Bhubaneswar gears up to host the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Divas starting today.

The decapitated body of the deceased was found on the overbridge connecting Rasulgarh to Vani Vihar, raising suspicions of murder. On being informed, Mancheswar police rushed to the spot and launched a thorough investigation into the incident.

Authorities believe the victim was being followed on the national highway and the assailants severed his head around 08:00 am on Wednesday morning. However, as of now, the identities of the perpetrators and their motives remain unknown.

“We rushed to the spot after we were informed that a youth was hacked by some people over the railway over-bridge in Rasulgarh. He died soon after they hacked him and fled away. The probe is on and we are trying to ascertain the identity of the deceased. The reason behind the murder will be known after the identification of the deceased,” informed Mancheswar IIC Mrutunjay Swain.

“After finding his identity, we will find out if he had some enmity with someone. As per preliminary investigation, he was going on a scooty, when he was chased by four people and hacked to death,” the IIC added.

This incident has sparked considerable distress amongst local residents, who are now calling for heightened security measures along the roadways. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward, as they continue to piece together the details of this brutal crime.
