Kendrapara: Days after her husband’s death, body of woman was found hanging in her home in Cherantapada village under Rajkanika block of Kendrapara district.
Manoj Tarai of Cherantapada village, who was working as a Planning Officer at the Rural Development department in Bhadrak, reportedly succumbed to his injuries after he met with a road accident while returning home on his two-wheeler on May 25.
Though he was rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar in a critical condition, he died under treatment.
just days after Manoj’s death, his wife Swapna Majhi was found hanging by her in-laws and rushed to the nearest hospital where doctors pronounced her as brought dead.
While the in-laws maintained that Swapna committed suicide, her family members have brought serious allegations of murder for dowry against her in-laws.
Bimala Majhi, Swapna’s father said, “Her in-laws called me and said to come to their house immediately stating that my daughter’s health was not well. I found her dead after reaching the hospital.”
“I am sure, her in-laws have murdered her,” Majhi alleged.
Speaking about the allegations, Umakanta Nayak, the Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) of Rajkanika Police Station said, “Her father has lodged an FIR complaining that Swapna's in-laws have murdered her for dowry after her husband’s death. We have launched a probe in this connection.”
