Throwing an open challenge for Twin City Commissionerate Police, clips of some youths reportedly in Cuttack posing with guns and sharp weapons for short videos in public places have come to the fore on social media.
Reports said the short videos have been filmed in the Taladanda Canal area in the millennium city. The short videos of the youths performing with guns and weapons and abusing in open spaces have gone viral on various social media platforms.
The Cuttack Commissionerate Police has started an investigation into the matter. Police are said to have identified some youths caught in the video footage and rounded up family members and acquaintances of some of them today.
"My nephew had shot a video brandishing a sword and I have no connection with their activities. When I warned him to inform about where he caught hold of this weapon, he clarified obtaining it from one of his friends name Kadua," said Anil Rout, a relative of a youth acting in the video.
A girl who had shot the reel said it's their personal matter. "I helped them prepare the video on Diwali and I have no other personal connection with them. We feel sorry for posting the video on social media as it was a mistake. I came in contact with them a few weeks ago only," said the girl.
It may be noted that at least 29 persons belonging to ‘Koi Bhai Nahi’ (KBN) group in Bhubaneswar have been booked by the Commissionerate Police for allegedly sharing their videos, brandishing sharp weapons and firearms dancing on the middle of the road, on social media. Nine youths of the gang have been arrested so far while a manhunt has been launched to nab the other teens.
Police investigation revealed that the members of the gang were recording the videos and sharing them on social media to create panic among businessmen, contractors, parking lot vendors.
Yesterday, another video of the KBN gang had surfaced on various social media platforms in which the members of the gang were seen partying on a vehicle by parking it on the middle of a National Highway. The videos were shot on different days and uploaded on Instagram and TikTok.
