Popular television actress Manjula, also known as Shruti, was brutally attacked by her husband in Bengaluru earlier this month. According to a report by ANI, the actress was stabbed multiple times during a heated altercation on July 4 and had to be hospitalized with serious injuries.

The accused, identified as Amaresh, was arrested shortly after the incident and has been remanded to judicial custody, police told ANI.

Investigations revealed that the couple, married for 20 years with two children, had a troubled relationship marked by frequent arguments. Three months ago, Manjula had lodged a complaint alleging dowry harassment and domestic abuse. Police mediated, and the two had reunited just days before the attack, the report highlighted.

On the day of the incident, Amaresh allegedly used pepper spray on Manjula before stabbing her in the stomach, ribs, thigh, and neck. Alert neighbors intervened and rushed her to Victoria Hospital.

As per reports, Manjula has since been discharged from the hospital, while a case has been registered against Amaresh at Hanumanthanagar police station.
